Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah,
Alhamdulillah, on August 1, Masjid Al-Ikhlaas hosted the 3rd Annual Seerah Conference — a beautiful and spiritually uplifting gathering centered on the life and teachings of our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Community members traveled from across the MetroWest area to join together around two things that should always bring our hearts closer: the Qur’an and the Seerah of Rasulullah ﷺ.
Program Highlights
The program began promptly after Asr Salah with a beautiful Qur’an recitation by Hafiz Haseeb Rehman.
Mufti Muhammad Aswat then delivered a powerful lecture on the Battle of the Trench (Ghazwat al-Khandaq), drawing out moral lessons and connecting them to the challenges we face in our lives today.
The evening also featured two special Qur’an recitation segments by Shaykh Hassan Saleh. In the first, he recited in the Murattal style across three riwayat — Abu Ja’far, Assosi, and Khalaf. Later, he recited in the Mujawwad style according to Hafs. His powerful voice and beautiful melody captivated the audience and strengthened the atmosphere of iman throughout the gathering.
Dr. Basyouny Nehela followed with an insightful lecture on how to connect with and benefit from the Qur’an when studying the Seerah, emphasizing that the Qur’an is the primary and most authentic source for understanding the Prophetic mission.
Throughout the night, Hafiz Ali served as MC, keeping the program organized and the flow smooth. The conference began right after Asr and concluded by the Maghrib Adhan, with dinner served immediately after Maghrib.
Special appreciation goes to Shaykh Yasir Usmani for organizing, planning, coordinating, and bringing the entire conference together.
"I was truly happy and deeply moved to witness members of our community traveling from different places and coming together for one purpose: their love for the Qur'an and the Seerah of our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Seeing families, youth, scholars, and community members gathered around the Qur'an and the life of Rasulullah ﷺ gives me tremendous hope and motivation. For me, this conference was never just about organizing another event. The idea was to create a space where our community could come together around the Qur'an and the Seerah. At the end, I asked how many people would like us to continue bringing programs like this to our community, and seeing all those hands go up was probably the best feedback we could have received. If our community has this hunger for Qur'an, Seerah, and beneficial knowledge, then it is our responsibility to keep creating opportunities to bring people closer to them."
A Community Eager for More
At the conclusion of the program, Shaykh Yasir asked the community for their feedback and whether they’d like to see similar programs in the future. The response was overwhelming — hands went up throughout the room in support, with the community expressing a clear desire for more gatherings like this one.
May Allah accept the efforts of our scholars, Qur’an reciters, organizers, volunteers, and everyone who attended. May He increase our love for the Qur’an and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and grant us the ability to follow his beautiful example. Ameen.
